THE ART & DESIGN RESEARCH CENTRE
In the School of Art & Design at Salford, there are more than 20 members of highly qualified staff who are both active researchers and practitioners in the field of art & design. Their work is co-ordinated by Rachel Cooper, Professor of Design Management, a recognised authority on design management practice.

The research department is divided into two areas of expertise – the Design and Innovation Research Group and the Visual Arts and Creative Technology Research Group. In the UK’s official national assessment of research – the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise – the department secured a 5 star rating, the highest rating awarded.

– Design Against Crime : Design against Crime will provide educators, designers and design decision-makers with the tools necessary to design against crime.

– Design Drivers – Integrating Technology into New Product Development through Design

To identify how to facilitate the efficient integration of technology into product development through design.
